Throughout its 284-year long history, Bodegas Alvear has managed to hold on to its family traits, passing ownership from parent to child. By firmly sticking to its roots, the business is now in the hands of the eighth generation.
Since 1488, the latest of five generations of winemakers Baron Filippo Cornacchia was a pioneer of wine production in Abruzzo and succeeded in creating a high-quality product with a strong identity. In those days, everything was grown and processed by hand, working “from dawn till dusk”.
Ricasoli is the most representative wine producer in the Chianti Classico area. The history of the Ricasoli family has been linked to wine since 1141, when there is written testimony attesting that the Ricasoli family already possessed Brolio Castle. Most especially, in 1872 Baron Bettino Ricasoli, illustrious politician and visionary wine entrepreneur, originated the formula for Chianti wine, now called Chianti Classico.
The current manor house was built inside the entry gate (called “Borgone”) of the old “castle” making the most of the ancient walls that surrounded the homestead. The symbol of Camigliano: the camel, found on a seal dating to the 13th century, can perhaps be connected to the influence of the papacy in the area, and there is speculation of connection to the movements of the Crusades that reached the Holy Land.
In 2002, Maison Sichel bought a property in Saint-André-du-Bois 60 km south of Bordeaux and renamed it Château Argadens in reference to the noble family which founded the estate in the thirteenth century. Château Argadens produces one white and one red wine. The very first vintage of Château d’Argadens won a medal in the Concours des Grands Vins de France in Mâcon.
Château d’Orignac, a family home, has been producing grapes for at least 800 years. Today, Hervé Meyer, with the help of his son Yvan, a winemaker in Bordeaux, carries on the work of his predecessors with energy and enthusiasm to ensure that the products of Château d’Orignac remain the jewels of our terroir.

Skilfully managed by Arnaud de Butler, Château de Trébiac lies on a gravel plateau at Portets, 35 km south of Bordeaux. Over the past five years, both the estate’s vines and winery have been completely rehabilitated.
